protect and preventingCounty Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service is working in partnership with other agencies to provide a seamless and integrated service to promote and support safe, healthy, caring, diverse and socially balanced communities.

Nationally, the modern Fire and Rescue Service places an ever-increasing emphasis on the prevention of fire and incidents.
The target for the Fire and Rescue Service is to reduce the number of accidental fire-related deaths in the home by 20% and the number of deliberate fires by 10% by 2010. Current figures to be posted 2011/12.
