We are pleased to introduce County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Authority’s consultation document which detail our proposals for :- The Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP) for 2010/11.
All Fire and Rescue Authorities are required under the National Framework document to produce an IRMP and update it each year. This document builds on last year’s IRMP and is aligned to our three year strategic plan. It is important for us as an Authority to consult with people, businesses and our partners within County Durham and Darlington on the strategic direction the Combined Fire Authority intends to take over the next year to make our vision of Safest People, Safest Places a reality.
We continue to strive to reduce the risk of damage, injury or death from fire and other emergencies and to add value to the social, economic and environmental well-being of the communities in County Durham and Darlington. Identifying and managing risk remains a key priority and will help to ensure that we have the right resources in the right places at the right time. Successful intervention measures and an excellent emergency response provide public assurance and enable us to retain high satisfaction levels with our service delivery.
The Authority will continue to assess, evaluate and where necessary, realign its resources to strengthen the prevention activities we undertake, both individually as a Fire and Rescue Authority and collectively with our key partners by delivering what matters locally. In doing so, we reflect the priorities detailed in the Sustainable Communities Strategies for both Durham and Darlington.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Authority has a statutory duty to provide a Fire and Rescue Service for the residents of County Durham and Darlington. It is vital that this Service is both fit for purpose and meets the needs of our diverse communities. We maintain a constant awareness of the changing environment in which we operate and review our strategic direction and priorities accordingly.
We believe our draft proposals will ensure that our resources are targeted towards making the people of County Durham and Darlington the Safest People in the Safest Places.
