Manual Handling

Course Aims
To provide students with training and information in relation to manual handling as well as providing guidance on the practical considerations and techniques in the interests of health and safety.

Course Objectives
At the end of the course each student will be able to:

  • Understand the legal responsibilities with regard to manual handling;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the basic anatomy of the spine and, state the risks due to incorrect manual handling operations;
  • Identify correct and incorrect manual handling techniques within the work environment; and
  • Recognise his/her own limitations in relation to manual handling.
