The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) was created on 5 May 2006 with a powerful remit to promote community cohesion and equality. The DCLG have produced booklets with simple and practical advice to those people responsible for fire safety in small and medium businesses. Guides are currently available through the DCLG website.

The National Fire Sprinkler Network
The National Fire Sprinkler Network was formed after a meeting of the NFSA Conference in Glasgow in 1998. Tess Kingham MP (Gloucester) had been invited to address the conference following a maiden speech in Parliament in which she outlined her support for fire sprinklers as a means of the protection of life, property and the environment from the ravages of fire.

E-Fire
E-Fire is a national project, funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government, under the Local Government Modernisation Programme. With the active involvement of Fire and Rescue Services (FRS) and other stakeholders, a range of exciting interactive services and products will be produced to be delivered over the Internet, for citizens and business. Each is designed to provide a key component for FRS to use in their delivery of electronic government and to meet expectations to access public services at any time.

The Chief Fire Officers Association
The Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) has been planning for the introduction of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRFSO) since 2002, when it established a Regulatory Reform Policy Development Working Group to consider the implications and prepare a framework of policies for guidance and enforcement for use by Fire and Rescue Services.

The Institution of Fire Engineers
The institution is the international qualifying organisation and learned society for fire engineering and fire safety professionals. IFE is at the heart of the fire community, promoting best practice and advancing the discipline for the benefit of society and supporting the professional development of members.

Fire Protection Association

The Fire Protection Association website is aimed at those who run small and medium sized enterprises. It provides basic advice about fire safety in small businesses, it describes the importance of fire risk assessment and it includes a table of simple questions about fire safety which will form the basis of a fire risk assessment which you can complete online.

Fire Safety Guides (Communities and Local Government)
A set of guides has been developed by Communities and Local Government to tell you what you have to do to comply with fire safety law, help you to carry out a fire risk assessment and identify the general fire precautions you need to have in place.
