TEMPORARY PART TIME - SENIOR CIVIL CONTINGENCIES OFFICER
HOURS: 18.5 hours, Minimum 6 month starting September 2008
SALARY £28,172 - £30,598 (Pro rata)

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Civil Contingencies Officer post in the Civil Contingencies Unit to assist with the further development of our civil contingencies capabilities.

The role is rewarding and challenging which will require the post holder to assist in the effective discharge of the duties and responsibilities of the Civil Contingencies Unit to the nine local authorities in County Durham and Darlington, ensuring that the responsibilities of the Local Authorities and other Category One responders on the Local Resilience Forum are discharged in accordance with the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.

You will need to be achievement focused, with strong communication, planning and project skills.

If you are up for a challenge and would like to assist in achieving these aims then this role may be for you.

Information Technology Trainer/Multimedia Technician
Grade 8 - £25,320 - £27,594

County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service are seeking to appoint an Information Technology Trainer / multimedia technician.
The successful applicant will be responsible for facilitating the technical requirements of a multimedia simulation suite and ensuring that all employees have access to learning opportunities and are competent in the use of the Services information technology systems.

Ideally you will have experience in
    The design and delivery of training packages utilising Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office applications, ECDL and ITQ assessments,
    Experience in developing simulations using photo and video media.
    You will need to be achievement focused, with strong communication, planning and project management skills.

Salary: £13,062 - £14,197 per annum

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To contribute to the effective operation and development of County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service by the delivery of an effective personnel function.

CONTEXT OF THE ROLE:
  • County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service are working to protect and improve our Communities
  • The Personnel Section forms part of the Service Support Department within the Service. It is responsible for handling a wide range of issues, which arise from the employer responsibilities. It aims to ensure that high quality staff are recruited, inducted, retained and developed in order to maximise their potential and enable the Service to deliver its strategic objectives.
  • The Administration Assistant operates within a framework provided by the Service’s Community Plan, policies and procedures and financial regulations. On a day-to-day basis the postholder will provide administrative and secretarial support to members of the unit in the full range of personnel activities, with a particular emphasis on effective filing systems.
  • The Service expects the highest standard of communication and conduct from all staff. Respect for confidentiality is essential.
  • All staff are expected to participate positively in the Appraisal Process, to undertake relevant training and development activities to improve their work performance, and to contribute to the training and development of others.
  • To promote the Service’s policy of equality and fairness, both within the Service and external in order to demonstrate commitment to anti discriminatory practice in all the Service activities.
  • To practice and promote the health and safety policies of the Service. To contribute to the development and progression of health and safety within the sphere of responsibility of this role for all employees and service recipients.
