History and Background
Consett Fire Station is situated in Villa Real on the outskirts of Consett town centre. It was opened by County Councillor Don Robson, C.B.E., D.L. on the 16th October 1997 and was designed to replace the old station in Delves Lane which gave fire cover to Consett since 1960.

The industry within Consett's station area is now mainly light engineering, manufacturing and service industries and there is also a medium sized chemical works at Crookhall. Well established industrial estates have grown and the expanding residential community is served by a central shopping area. Agriculture predominates in the rural area surrounding Consett.

The station boarders with both Northumberland and Tyne and Wear and provides reinforcements into their fire and rescue service in the event of a large incident.
