Breathing Apparatus

The Breathing Apparatus sets utilised by County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service are the Draeger Personal Safety System 100 (PSS100) Positive Pressure Breathing Apparatus unit, which utilises an air containment cylinder and an electronic monitoring unit called the Bodyguard.

The set provides the wearer with respiratory protection when working in a contaminated or oxygen deficient, life threatening environment.
PSS100 Breathing Apparatus Set
  • The PSS100 meets the requirements of EC Council Directive 89/686/EEC, BSEN 1233, and conforms to European Standard EN137.
  • The electronic monitoring unit (Bodyguard) is intrinsically safe conforming to EMC (Radio interference requirements) and to JCDD 38.
  • The PSS100 advanced design gives greater performance, comfort and ease of use. The revolutionary articulated carrying system improves weight distribution, and the slide and pivot mechanism permits freedom of movement and increased manoeuvrability.
PSS100 Set in use

  • The PSS100 utilises the reducer plus high performance first stage pressure reducer.
  • An articulated carrying system is capable of supporting single or twin compressed air cylinders.
